By now you should know that I use
Firefox as my web browser (and if you don't,
you should). Well, there has been a feature/extension that has been bouncing around for a while, generally called "mouse gestures," that claims to make browsing faster and easier. The basic idea is that instead of clicking on buttons or selecting from a menu, you make a special movement, called a "gesture," with your mouse (usually while pressing some other key). The extension picks up on the gesture and performs some action that is tied to it.
It sounds interesting, but the problem I have with it is that you have to memorize the gestures. I have been unwilling to climb the learning curve for the gestures. Then I saw
easyGestures. It takes the basic gesture concept and adds a configurable radial menu (also called a pie menu). You may ask, "How is this different from a left click menu?" Valid question. The developer has an
answer for that.
The UI that the
developer designed is simple, yet
powerful, and is very
customizable.
So I am a convert. And I thought I would share with you. Hear the word, and be enlightened.
