- This week has been kind of crazy.
- I had a diagnostic mammogram of the left breast on Monday. They only took 2 pictures (2 views) and said I was done. For the diagnostic mammogram of the right breast, they took 4-5 pictures + an ultrasound. I questioned if I needed more pictures and an ultrasound, but was told no.
- Tuesday morning I went to my ENT and finally got some good news. He agreed that my sinus infection would become a big issue during chemo and that I should have surgery before chemo. He asked when my surgery was and said he'd do the sinus surgery at the same time! He is also going to put tubes in both ears as my hearing is significantly affected.
- I got back to work at 10:40. At 10:45 the surgeon's nurse called me. She said the surgeon and her didn't understand why they didn't do more pictures/views. When I told her I questioned it, she just sighed and said I needed to go back and have more pictures/views + an ultrasound done and to make sure they did an ultrasound. She had made an appointment for me at 11:15. So I quickly told my boss and walked back out of work to go to the appointment.
- As they called me back, the nurse told me what procedures they would be doing. Of course it was more mammograms with POSSIBLE ultrasound. I adimently stated that I was to have an ultrasound no matter what. They said that it wasn't on the order that way but they did check it out and do one. They thought they had found something. But it was only showing in one view of the mammogram and only radially not laterally on the ultrasound. The radiologist came in and did the ultrasound as well and got the same results. They said they needed to talk with the surgeon and would call me later.
- The radiology tech called me and asked to come back on Wednesday so a radiologist who was a breast specialist could do the ultrasound. So back in on Wednesday I went. It turns out that he saw the same sort of shadowy thing all over my breast which told him it was just an artifact of the ultrasound and not real. Thank God!
- I took today off to spend some time with Alex and catch up on housework. Jim is going to have his hands full taking care of me and Alex and no time for housework. Alex and I went to breakfast and then I also picked him up early and we went shopping.
- My mom and sister are driving in from Indiana as we speak. They will be able to help this weekend. They will leave on Sunday though.
- Surgery is at 12pm tomorrow (Friday, Feb. 1st). Between the two surgeries it will take ~2hrs. I will be in the hospital overnight.
- Alex is doing ok. He certainly is processing a lot. He is working on the days of the week so I made him a calendar of this week to try and help him understand what is happening each day. I used pictures. We told him about Mama going to the hospital Friday and sleeping there and coming home on Saturday. He asked Daddy after bath if today was Friday. Daddy said no, today is Thursday but tomorrow is Friday. Tonight during prayers he interrupted to say "help...Mama hospital tomorrow!" meaning pray for God to help Mama when she is at the hospital tomorrow. He had remembered/put together that Mama went to the hospital on Friday, that tomorrow was Friday, and that it was something we needed to ask God's help with. We had forgotten to review the calendar yesterday and tonight.
- I'm ok. A little tired but ok. Jim is doing ok. I think he is a little tired as well.
That's about it. I will hopefully feel up to blogging late next week. Thanks for your continued support and prayers. And thanks to those of you who helped put some quick meals in our freezer.
