It figures. The site I posted for the river level stopped updating last night, because the gauge (which is attached to the Third Street bridge) stopped working. And the battery back-up stopped working. I wonder why that happened? Could it be that it was completely submerged, and subjected to the pressure of over a hundred thousand cubic feet per second of water flowing past it?
Anyway, the current estimate is that the Cedar river is at 28.7 ft and rising. Crest is estimated to occur tomorrow, at a depth of approximately 32 feet. Note that flood stage is at 12 feet, and the previous record depth (in 1929) was 20 feet.
Oh, and we are under a tornado watch for tonight, as well.
But, again, our home is not in any danger.
