Our News
by Karen

I finished all of my radiation on September 19th. I am now completely done with all of my treatments. I would sound more upbeat but on Sunday September 21st I started an infection that put me in the hospital from Thursday September 25th until Saturday (the 27th). I am still recovering from that. I have been off of work since the afternoon of Tuesday Sept. 23rd. I planned to go back this coming Monday but my energy is still pretty low so I am not going back until Friday (the 10th).

Alex took my hospitalization well. He came up with Daddy to see me Thursday and Friday nights. He is recovering from a gash above his left eye that happened Tuesday the 23rd. He also got the tube pulled out of his ear on Wed. Oct. 1st. Neither were fun experiences. But he is doing ok now.

Jim is hanging in there as usual. Things were a little tough when I was in the hospital and the first couple days home. But they're starting to return to normal again.

We said a sad good-bye to Henry Monday the 29th. We had to put him to sleep. He couldn't walk at all any more, his breathing was getting labored, and he just looked sad. It was hard, he had been with us for over 15 years. But it was definitely time. We explained to Alex that Henry died and went to heaven and was with God. He promptly asked if Henry was in a hot air balloon. We said no, but that was a nice thought. Well, he still thinks Henry is in a hot air balloon because how else would he be able to get high in the sky to Heaven.

Jerome is very ill as well. He is continually losing weight. There isn't much more we or the vet can do. It has something to do with his liver...possibly cancer. We are trying a steroid to help him feel better. It basically is to make him feel better as he nears the end.

Well, that's our news. What's yours? Post a comment when you read this to let us know if anyone is still reading the blogs or not. As always, thanks for your support.

I'm here and reading and continually praying for you. We missed a couple weeks at church and weren't aware you were in the hospital. I'm glad that you're on the road to recovery again. It was great seeing all 3 of you this evening. I'm glad you're feeling up to joining us again.

Thank you for the update. Mom has been updating when she can. I am moving to Anamosa tomorrow. It's small but remodeled 1/2 house and only 2 and 4 blocks from the kids. I will be there for 6 mths (lease). I had the pleasure of being at 2nd and 3rd services last week (played sound @ 3rd) and enjoying the band plus I got to see your son, Alex. He is such a love. I pray for you all. I miss you and hope to see you soon. I love you. B

We are praying for you and did not realize you had been hospitalized. I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better. So sorry to hear about Henry and Jerome. We had to put Mom's beagle down a few months ago so I know how hard that is. I loved Alex's vision of Henry in a hot air balloon. We took Carson to the Plano Balloon Festival a few weeks ago and he has been very intrigued with hot air balloons ever since. We miss you guys. Everynight when we say our prayers we end the "Now I lay me down to sleep" prayer...with "God bless...(insert family, friends and teachers) and special prayers for Alex's mom". We love you guys. Come see us soon! When you're ready for a little warm weather this winter, come on down!

Guys, I've been checking in once in a while. So sorry to hear about Henry but love the hot air balloon. That wouldn't be a bad way to get to Heaven! Hope you all are keeping the spirits up. Let me know if you need taxi service or anything. Love ya'!
Peace.
Mary

Very glad you're feeling better. Its been a long time coming. I've been back home with my mom for the past few days. She is about three weeks post-lung surgery and about 7 weeks post-heart surgery. Tough times, but she is trying to fight her way back. My mom has always been such a strong person, its really hard seeing her like this. I can only imagine how hard you've had it. Very glad you can put it behind you. Take care, sweetie.
